BORN IN LOCHGELLY, FIFE, JIM PLAYED THE MAJORITY OF HIS PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL CAREER WITH DUNFERMLINE ATHLETIC F.C., AND STILL HOLDS THE RECORD OF BEING THE LAST PLAYER TO SCORE A WINNING GOAL FOR THE ‘PARS’ AT IBROX, A FACT HE LIKES TO MENTION AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE...


AT JUST 28, HE BECAME MANAGER OF DUNFERMLINE IN 1982, AND TOOK THEM ALL THE WAY FROM THE FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE 2nd DIVISION TO THE SPL, GAINING SUCCESSIVE PROMOTIONS IN THE LATE 80‘S


DURING THIS PERIOD, DUE TO HIS CONCERTED EFFORTS TO ENGAGE THE LOCAL POPULATION, HE INCREASED THE AVERAGE GATE FROM 1,500 TO 7,500


HE IS KNOWN AS ‘FIFE’S POET LAUREATE’ DUE TO HIS HIS HILARIOUS POEMS AND JOKES, AND WAS AWARDED THE M.B.E. IN H.M. THE QUEEN’S 2007 BIRTHDAY HONOURS LIST.  IN 2011 JIM WAS ELECTED THE PROVOST OF FIFE
